What to Expect from Your Free Family Law Consultation

Find out what happens during a free family law consultation, how to prepare, what questions to ask, and how a specialist solicitor can help you understand your options.

Taking the first step to seek legal advice can feel daunting, especially during such a difficult time. A free consultation is designed to give you clarity about your situation and your options, without any obligation. Here is what you can expect when you book a free consultation with CVG Family Law.

Before Your Consultation

You do not need to have all your paperwork in order before your consultation. However, if you have any relevant documents to hand, it can be helpful to bring them. These might include court orders, marriage or civil partnership certificates, financial documents, or any written communication that is relevant to your situation. If you do not have these, that is perfectly fine - your solicitor can advise you on what you will need going forward.

During the Consultation

Your free 30-minute consultation is a confidential conversation with a specialist family solicitor. During this time, your solicitor will listen to your situation without judgement, explain the legal options available to you, give you an honest assessment of your position, outline the likely process and timescales, discuss costs and whether you may be eligible for legal aid, and answer any questions you have.

This is your time to ask anything you need to. There is no such thing as a silly question, and our solicitors understand that legal terminology can be confusing. We will explain everything in plain English.

After Your Consultation

After your consultation, you are under no obligation to instruct us or take any further action. Many people find that simply understanding their legal position gives them confidence to make decisions about their next steps. If you do wish to proceed, your solicitor will explain the process clearly and provide a written costs estimate before any work begins.

Why Choose a Specialist?

Family law is a broad area, and the issues you are facing may involve domestic abuse, children's safeguarding, financial settlements, or a combination of these. At CVG Family Law, our solicitors specialise in these areas. This means you receive advice from someone who deals with cases like yours every day, not a general practitioner who dabbles in family law. Book your free 30-minute consultation today by calling us on 07984 782 713 or using our online booking form.
